What are values and why do we have them.
At Westgate Vineyard Church, we’re part of the global family of the Church. We stand alongside others who share the core beliefs of the Christian faith and belong to the larger Vineyard movement. These connections help ground us in what we believe and the wider mission we’re part of.
But as a local church, there’s something unique about us—and we love that. Our values aren’t about making everyone the same; they’re about uniting us and clarifying what we hold most important as a community. These values are what shape our identity, helping us stay rooted in the things that matter most.
These are the things we’re passionate about, and the things we prioritise as we follow Jesus together. They’re the unique flavor of Westgate Vineyard, the qualities we hold dear, and the way we aim to live out our faith in the world.
So when you gather with us, you’ll see these values on display—not just in what we do, but in the people who call Westgate Vineyard their home. This is what we’re about, and we’re excited to live it out together.
At the core of our faith is the life-changing love of God. This love isn’t just something we know with our heads, but something we experience with our hearts and lives. God is kind, good, pure, and holy—worthy of our devotion, worship, and trust. His love is the source of everything in our lives, and in Him alone do we truly understand what love is meant to be.
To know God’s love is to be invited into a deeper relationship with Him. It’s not a one-time revelation, but an ongoing unfolding of His character and how His love continually transforms us. As we experience His love, we begin to love Him in return, and we’re drawn into His story—the story of redemption and restoration. As 1 John 4:19 reminds us, “We love because He first loved us.” His love compels us to act—worshipping and loving others with the same grace and compassion He shows us.
Knowing God’s love shapes how we live. Worship is not just something we do on Sundays; it’s a place where we encounter God’s presence and allow Him to change us, both personally and as a community. As we worship, we draw close to God in intimacy, but we also minister to one another—encouraging, praying, and lifting each other up in His presence. In worship, we make space for the Spirit to move—through song, prayer, and ministry. This might look like praying for one another, offering prophetic encouragement, or responding together in communion—because we believe God meets us as we turn our hearts to Him. As His love flows through us, it changes everything—how we work, how we love, and how we serve. His love reorients our entire lives toward Him and His Kingdom.
When we gather as a church, we expect and make space for His presence—through worship, prayer, and Scripture. We believe in creating room for the Spirit to minister, responding to Him in the moment, and listening for His voice. As we draw near to Him, He draws near to us, and in those moments, we’re transformed by His love, just as we’ve always been meant to be.
